Brasília will play host to the first Brazilian Responsible Tourism Forum, scheduled for September 11 – 14, 2025, drawing speakers and interlocutors to share dialogue around practices to sustain travel. The event, promoted by the Vivejar Group, will be a great vision on tourism that puts people first, respects territories, and care for the planet. One of the primary objectives of the Forum is to highlight the transformative work being done by leaders in tourism who have long used the sector as a tool for resistance, identity, and income generation in their respective communities. The event will feature several prominent speakers, including Ana Tereza S. Giacomini, a public prosecutor with a strong background in restorative justice practices and social advocacy. Solange Barbosa, CEO of Rota da Liberdade and a key figure in Afrotourism in Brazil, will also share her experience in promoting Black narratives and supporting local development through tourism.

Anna Terra, an Indigenous communicator and president of the Umatalhi Family Organization, will speak on the importance of preserving Indigenous culture and advocating for environmental sustainability. Terra, a young leader of the Yawalapiti people from the Xingu region, is known for her advocacy on Indigenous rights, women’s empowerment, and the environment.

Additionally, Fabio Bibancos, the president of the social organization Turma do Bem, will present on the role of social entrepreneurship in tourism. Bibancos has been recognized internationally for his work connecting dental professionals with social causes. Regina Tchelly, a leading figure in sustainable gastronomy and peripheral activism, will also be featured. Tchelly is the founder of Favela Orgânica, a project in Rio de Janeiro that promotes a new relationship with food, land, and sustainability.

The 1st Brazilian Responsible Tourism Forum is supported by MUDA! Coletivo Brasileiro de Turismo Responsável (Brazilian Responsible Tourism Collective) and sponsored by the Bancorbrás Institute and the CNC. The event represents a significant effort to move beyond theoretical discussions and drive action in the tourism sector. The goal is clear: to create lasting partnerships, inspire new practices, and develop a tourism industry that is socially and environmentally responsible.

Students, teachers, seniors, and people with disabilities will be able to attend the event at a discounted rate.
