Ms. Cummins’ new role at Nemeton, which is based in An Rinn Gaeltacht, is Head of Media Development.
Nemeton described Ms. Cummins’ appointment as a “significant addition to its award-winning team”.
As the company’s inaugural Head of Media Development, Gabrielle will play a pivotal role in driving the company’s strategic ambitions around diversifying its digital output and building on Nemeton’s existing, wide ranging media offerings. Each year, the company produces over 600 hours of content for TV and web, best known for GAA Beo and other productions for TG4. This new role will focus on driving continuous improvement in content across all the company’s digital channels.
With a proven track record in and deep understanding of the media industry, Gabrielle brings a wealth of experience and expertise to Nemeton. She previously helped establish Ireland’s first youth regional music radio station Beat 102-103, firstly as the station’s Head of News and Sport and subsequently as the company’s CEO and Programme Director for the last seventeen years. Prior to that, Gabrielle worked as a journalist with WLR FM and as a local TV producer.
In welcoming Gabrielle, Nemeton CEO, Irial Mac Murchú has described this new addition to his team as a new and exciting development.
“We’ve had ambitions for a long time to develop and commercialise our digital content internationally. This has never been as important as it is now in an era of great change and opportunity, not least in this new age of AI,” he said.
“Gabrielle’s experience will enable us to do just that and we are delighted to have her on board,” Mr. Mac Murchú added.
Gabrielle Cummins has said she is thrilled to be joining such a successful, indigenous Waterford based media company “from the moment I set foot in the studios at Nemeton, I was impressed by the team’s authentic positive culture, the palpable pride among them about consistently producing great content and their obvious passion to challenge themselves further in diversification and innovation”.
“At the heart of Nemeton’s output is great storytelling; I’m excited to join Irial and the team and confident that together, we will achieve a lot and create new opportunities in the industry,” she added.
The Tipperary native has also referenced the importance of being able to continue to live and work in her adopted county of Waterford that she has called home since 1998.
“I started my media career with one of Ireland’s leading local media brands, WLR FM then developed my skillset further at regional level with the market leading Beat 102-103 and now I’m excited to embrace this new opportunity with Nemeton, a company that values local and at the same time produces gold standard content nationally and internationally, all from its picturesque HQ at An Rinn, Waterford.”
Gabrielle will take up the new position at Nemeton in October, 2025.
Founded in 1993 by Irial Mac Murchú, Nemeton is a thriving independent production company, based in An Rinn that currently employs 75 full-time/part time staff (and as many more regular freelancers) and produces high-quality programming for audiences around the world.
