Obey-Fabiyi urges Christians to reflect on God’s faithfulness

…As ministry marks 29th anniversary

Afolarin Obey-Fabiyi, deputy general overseer, Decross Gospel Mission, has urged Christian faithful to always reflected on God’s faithfulness.

He made this known during the 29th anniversary of Decross Gospel Mission, Ikeja model area, themed, ‘Gratitude.’

The church was founded as a Parish on August 27, 1996, with about 30 members, after a 3-day crusade in ‘Poatson Pleasure ride’, under Ikeja flyover bridge.

The month-long anniversary celebration started on Friday, August 1 and was concluded on Sunday August 31, 2025, as worshipers witnessed sacred time of soul-lifting hymns, intercession, and worship.

Obey-Fabiyi in his message titled: ‘Look Back’ (Luke 17:19) reflected on God’s faithfulness and reasons to give thanks in every circumstance.

“Looking back is not for regrets but for reflection. An intentional pause to see how far God has brought us, even through life’s challenges and victories. Your altitude in life will be determined by your attitude,” he stated.

Abosede Yinka-Ogundimu, the senior area pastor, Decross Gospel Mission, Ikeja Model Area, recalled how she started with the ministry as a choir mistress and how God had helped the Church to grow in leaps and bound.

“I started 29 years ago as a choir mistress. It wasn’t a very easy task but God has been helping us all the while. I became the Pastor 19 years ago. I bless God today for where I am, ” she stated.

Yinka-Ogundimu disclosed that her have worshiped with the ministry in the last 30 years, and have experienced some challenging and victory moments.

“I am really excited today. I have been in this ministry for 30 years and God has blessed my family. Today, we are celebrating the 29th Anniversary of the Church and also celebrating 30 years of conjugal bliss. We came as married couple and we have been blessed with children, today, we are grandparents. We blessed the name of the Lord,” she stated.

Tunji Odofin, assistant pastor, stated that he was motivated by the leadership capacity of the pastor-in-charge and her ability to go all out to make members comfortable, to remain in the Church for the past 25 years.

“I have been a member of this Church for 25 years and if nothing works, I would have long gone but I tell people, things work here in Decross.”

Members engaged in the Daily Bible Question-and-Answer sessions held online at 6 a.m. from Mondays through Saturdays, creating an atmosphere of learning as participants dug deep into the Word of God, expanded their knowledge, grew in wisdom, and strengthened their faith.

Winners who emerged from the final Question-and-Answer session, as well as other participants on the day of the anniversary, were recognized and rewarded for their active participation and outstanding performance.

The anniversary thanksgiving anchored by Sade Oshoba, guest minister and gospel artist, also featured daily Gratitude Chants to God, where members expressed thanksgiving in diverse and heartfelt ways.

These moments not only inspired and motivated but also stirred up a renewed passion for unending gratitude and thanksgiving to God.
