With protests gripping Nepal in recent days, a Congress party spokesperson stated that similar unrest is unlikely to occur in India, as the country has already experienced such challenges, and those who once benefited from them are now in power.
Congress leader Surendra Rajput said that power now rests with the “beneficiaries of anarchy.”
“Some people think that what is happening in our neighborhood now will happen here too—so, dear friend, snap out of your delusion. This has already happened here, and what is happening there now is a repeat. The beneficiaries of anarchy here are already in power. This is why they worship not the public interest or national interest but the interests of a businessman and America,” Rajput wrote in a post on X on Wednesday.

Narendra Modi became Prime Minister after the BJP-led NDA came to power at the Centre in 2014, and the Arvind Kejriwal-led Aam Aadmi Party (AAP), which emerged from the Anna movement, has been a prominent force in Indian politics since.
Congress leader Surendra Rajput claimed that during 2012-13 oreign powers’ puppets were performing a shameless dance in Delhi and credited the leadership then chairperson of the Congress-led UPA of Sonia Gandhi and the then Prime Minister Manmohan Singh for keeping peace during the time.
“Recall 2012-13, the banner of India Against Corruption and the screaming, shouting crowds determined to bring the government to its knees. Just as the crowds in Nepal and Bangladesh lacked any ideology, those sitting under the India Against Corruption banner were equally devoid of ideas. At that time, too, widespread violence and anarchy would have erupted if not for the leadership of Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh,” Rajput said in the post.
Rajput also claimed that during the time the central leadership had sent a sent a clear message that even if the government falls, no bullets should be fired.
“Visiting Manmohan ji’s residence, Sonia ji sent a clear message that even if the government falls, no bullets should be fired. These youths are ours; they don’t know what they are doing. They are being used. This use will turn into exploitation later, but still, no bullets should be fired on them. This was the moment when foreign powers’ puppets were performing a shameless dance in Delhi,” he said.

Congress leader Surendra Rajput stressed that people should be grateful to Sonia Gandhi and Manmohan Singh, who, even though they lost power, ensured that the nation remained free from violence and anarchy.
“The country needs to think seriously at this moment. We must be grateful to Sonia ji and Manmohan Singh, who may have lost power but did not allow violence and anarchy to engulf the nation’s people,” he said.
Rajput said that whatever is happening in Nepal has already happened in India, and Rahul Gandhi and the Congress are its victims.
“The beneficiaries who gained power through anarchy are now warning to stay vigilant, that what is happening in the neighborhood could happen here too. Oh, brother, it has already happened here. Rahul and Congress are its victims,” he said.
Nepal Gen Z Protest Cause
The protests began on September 8 in Kathmandu and quickly spread to cities such as Pokhara, Butwal, and Birgunj after the government announced a ban on major social media platforms, citing tax and cybersecurity reasons. Authorities have imposed curfews in several cities including Kathmandu, which will remain in place till Friday morning.
The demonstrators are demanding an end to corruption, nepotism, and misuse of power by political leaders. Public anger grew further after social media posts highlighted the extravagant lifestyles of politicians’ children under the “Nepo Babies” trend, exposing stark inequalities between elites and ordinary citizens.
