When thinking about luxury watches, waste materials probably aren’t the first thing that springs to mind. But Detrash is no ordinary jewellery brand; creating unusual and appealing time pieces made out of the exactly that.
This forward-thinking company transforms ocean plastic into high-end timepieces, and its latest creation – the £375 Au.M.G dive watch – is a striking example. For those tired of conventional shopping options, Detrash offers a refreshing alternative, reshaping the world of sustainable watches in a way that surprises fashion lovers and collectors alike.
And for those who like their accessories to stand out, take note: Detrash’s new Au.M.G is a limited-edition release. With only a limited run of 100 having been produced, there are only 52 still available to buy on the brand’s website, reports the Mirror.
This unique timepiece has already won over eco-conscious consumers with its design, which incorporates 80% recycled surgical-grade steel and a strap made from tide ocean plastic. Despite it’s unusual beginnings, no detail has been overlooked in this luxurious watch, which features a stylish scratch-resistant Sapphire Crystal with an anti-reflective coating.
The Au. M.G model also marks Detrash’s first foray into PVD gold coating, giving the timepiece a chic, timeless appearance. Constructed from 80% recycled surgical-grade steel, the watch boasts a dial inspired by one of the brand’s popular but permanently sold out designs, the Gotham’s Vigilante model.

But this classic and elegant timepiece isn’t just about looks, it’s also water resistant up to 200 metres. It has a robust design intended to withstand wear and tear, ensuring it can be passed down to future generations.
For those wondering why the timepiece has been christened Au. M.G, the letters signify gold, marine, and grit, reflecting the materials used in its creation. The brand isn’t just concerned with its components though, as it has committed 1% of every sale towards backing Surfers Against Sewage.
Outstanding craftsmanship aside, Detrash’s commitment to a more environmentally conscious yet luxurious customer experience can be found in the packaging too. A little different from the norm, with the watch is delivered in a carrying case made from leftover material.

Alternative timepieces currently available include Tissot’s PR 100 Blue 40mm model, which is obtainable through Goldsmiths for £285. It’s water-resistant to 10 bar and is made from high-quality 316L stainless steel.
Shoppers can also buy the Citizen Men’s Blue Chronograph Dial Stainless Steel Bracelet watch at half price from H.Samuel. Currently discounted from £250 to £125, it boasts an eye-catching blue dial and a useful date display.
Back to Detrash, the firm’s website showcases plenty of glowing reviews, with one purchaser stating: “Absolutely love my Detrash watch. I have a collection of Tissot watches, and this watch stands up to those in quality and looks. It has an expensive feel about it. Very fast delivery too. Hoping to add another Detrash very soon.”
However, one customer pointed out in their review that the watch might be a bit too hefty for daily wear, stating: “It’s chunky and maybe too heavy as a go to every day watch. That said, for wearing for an occasion, it’s pucker – looks fantastic.”
Despite this, another pleased shopper commented: “Awesome product, looks amazing and super fast delivery.”
