Hostage deal underway

The moment we have been waiting for: Twenty living hostages are expected to be released Monday morning in two stages.

The first hostages to be released were Alon Ohel, Gali and Ziv Berman, Matan Angrest, Eitan Mor, Omri Miran and Guy Gilboa Dalal.

A joint statement from the IDF Spokesperson’s Unit and the Shin Bet security agency said that, according to information just received from the Red Cross, 13 hostages have been handed over to its representatives and are now on their way to meet IDF and Shin Bet personnel inside the Gaza Strip.

The Saudi network Asharq reported, citing Hamas sources, that a “technical” meeting took place overnight between the terrorist organization and International Committee of the Red Cross staff to coordinate the hostages’ transfer. According to the sources, Hamas informed the Red Cross of the condition of the hostages and submitted a new list of terrorists it demands to be released. The sources added that mediators are “working until the last minute” to “improve” the list, though it currently does not include senior terrorists such as Marwan Barghouti.
