Big Brother viewers were left utterly baffled as the programme delivered an unforeseen twist that witnessed two housemates making a dramatic comeback to the series.

During Friday’s (October 17) episode of the ITV reality sensation, it was scheduled to be the customary live eviction, yet in a programme first, nobody was being ejected from the house.

Close friends Sam and Nancy found themselves facing the public vote after their private discussion about Jenny was exposed to the household, triggering a substantial confrontation.

Nancy dissolved into tears and embraced her closest companion as presenters Will Best and AJ Odudu disclosed that Sam had garnered the highest number of votes from viewers.

Everyone assumed that Sam had been eliminated, but in a startling revelation, he was transported to a concealed chamber alongside two previous housemates, reports the Mirror.

Audiences witnessed the comeback of 2023’s initial evictee Farida, along with Emily, who was eliminated on the opening night of the present series.

The threesome will remain concealed from their fellow contestants before rejoining the competition at a later stage in the series.

Sam was utterly stunned as he stepped through the entrance only to discover his stint in the Big Brother residence hadn’t concluded.

Will subsequently guided him to the secret chamber, where he reunited with Farida and Emily.

Predictably, it wasn’t long before viewers flocked to social media platforms to express their responses as they questioned why the audience was remarkably subdued during the eviction.

One enthusiast commented: “They definitely know something is up because the crowd was far too quiet #bbuk #BigBrother.”

Another penned: “Aj literally screaming about there being 3 new housemates into the mic yet the crowd couldn’t cheer for the secret housemates I’m so confused #bbuk #BigBrother.”

A third raged: “THIS CROWD IS SO S*** #BigBrother #bbuk.” One wrote: “Messiest fake eviction of all time. #BBUK.”

Meanwhile another contributed: “Possibly the most disinterested #LiveEviction crowd I’ve ever seen. #BigBrother #BigBrotherUK.”

Throughout the opening episode of the series, Sam, Caroline and Emily found themselves voted as the bottom three housemates and were compelled to determine who would depart.

Ultimately, they concluded Emily would be the one to exit, with her stint cut remarkably brief.

Farida was similarly the initial housemate eliminated in the 2023 series with supporters left incensed that they didn’t witness more of the icon.

Despite her brief tenure, she created an enormous impression on the house, with previous housemates disclosing she was discussed daily following her exit.

Discussing why she wished to return, Farida explained: “Firstly, I think it’s a fantastic choice. And secondly, the amount of time you put into the whole process, I didn’t really feel fulfilled – I only had a few days in there.

“The most important thing is – the audience has wanted this for such a long time. Even when Celebrity Big Brother was on there were rumours I was going back into the House. You’ve got to listen to your fans. I’m doing it for the fans.”

Big Brother airs on ITV2 and ITVX from Sundays through Fridays, followed each night by Big Brother: Late & Live
