Victoria Beckham has been directly questioned about the alleged affair between Rebecca Loos and her husband, David Beckham, in a new explosive interview.
Rebecca Loos claimed that she and David had a “steamy affair” behind Victoria’s back, making it one of the most discussed celebrity scandals of the 2000s. She stated they had a four-month fling in 2004 when she was employed as the footballer’s PA and translator.
At that time, David had relocated to Madrid for his career while Victoria stayed at home in the UK. David has consistently dismissed the allegations as “ludicrous”, and the couple addressed the scandal in his Netflix series, Beckham.
However, Victoria has now been asked about the allegations in an unrestricted discussion on the Call Her Daddy podcast. The host, Alex Cooper, asked: “You’ve dealt with speculations throughout your whole career about your marriage.
“I know David touched on this in the documentary. Can you just explain how you and David handled this?”, reports the Mirror.
In response, Victoria said: “Do you know… we’ve had so much thrown at us and we were talking about it because we’ve recently celebrated our 26th wedding anniversary and by the way, people said it wouldn’t work…26 years. We’ve had so much thrown at us and we’ve always just been there together and just ridden the damn storm.”
However, she quickly moved on from the topic to discuss her eating disorder, an issue Victoria had courageously spoken about for the first time on her own Netflix show.
Following her initial explosive allegations in 2004, Rebecca gave several interviews. In a conversation with Sky, she claimed that her chemistry with David was undeniable and they shared a similar sense of humour.
Speaking about his marriage, she suggested that David seemed to miss his wife and felt ‘lonely’ in Spain. Rebecca maintained that she had no intention of disrupting their marriage.
When questioned about her feelings towards Victoria, she made one thing clear – she wanted no sympathy.
“I don’t expect any sympathy from her whatsoever,” she stated. “I think it’s bad enough for me to do what I have done without me expecting any words of sympathy.
“I really hope that they get through it. I think the problems were in their marriage long before I came into the picture. I in no way intended to break up their marriage, especially when there are young children involved. I hope they stay together.”
Last year, Rebecca extended an olive branch to Victoria. “The funny thing is, I got the s***, Victoria [Beckham] got the s***, David f****** never got any s***,” she told James English on his Anything Goes With podcast.
“That’s the world we live in. That made me want to keep [saying] ‘hello, this is unfair’.”
In David’s TV series, he sat down with Victoria to discuss the challenging period in their lives.
He revealed: “There were some horrible stories that were difficult to deal with. It was the first time that me and Victoria had been put under that kind of pressure in our marriage.”
Victoria chimed in: “One hundred percent. It was the hardest period for us. Because it felt like the world was against us.”
The ex-Spice Girl went on: “And here’s the thing; we were against each other if I’m being completely honest. You know, up until Madrid sometimes it felt like us against everybody else.
“But we were together. We were connected. We had each other. But when we were in Spain, it didn’t really feel that we had each other either. And that’s sad. I can’t even begin to tell you how hard it was and how it affected me.”
When asked by the director how they managed to survive, David responded: “I don’t know how we got through it in all honesty. Victoria is everything to me.
“To see her hurt was incredibly difficult. But we are fighters. And at that time, we needed to fight for each other; we needed to fight for our family. And what we had was worth fighting for. But ultimately, it’s our private life.”
