Martin Lewis’ Money Saving Expert (MSE) has highlighted a fantastic deal for Asda customers that’s available until February 2026. The offer allows over-60s to enjoy soup, bread and unlimited tea or coffee for just £1 across 212 cafes during the colder months.

Shoppers can select either tomato or chicken soup as part of the seasonal promotion. They also have the option to upgrade their meal deal to include a small latte, cappuccino, or speciality tea for an additional 55p, or to a medium size for £1.10.

In a post to X yesterday, MSE said: “Spread the word. Over-60s can get a bowl of soup, a bread roll and unlimited tea/coffee for just £1 at any Asda café until February 2026. The deal’s valid from opening time until café closing, any day of the week, and there’s no minimum spend or other purchase required.”

In 2024, Asda’s Winter Warmer program provided half a million £1 meals to pensioners. Its 2025 comeback comes as many older adults are reducing spending on essentials due to increased financial pressures.

In light of the initiative, which relaunched on November 1, Jordan Cummings, Buying Manager, Cafes and Concessions at Asda, also said: “We know winter is set to be incredibly hard for thousands of pensioners as they continue to worry about how to keep themselves warm in the face of rising living costs and on a fixed income. Last year alone we sold over half a million meals showing the vital need for this initiative.”

Earlier this year, Age UK research showed that more than two million older adults have trimmed their food and grocery spending because of concerns about living expenses. Additionally, about five million people reduced their home heating significantly to save money, marking a 38% rise since 2024.

Beyond easing financial burdens, Asda’s initiative aims to reduce loneliness during Christmas. Its own research indicates that 1 in 10 older adults are uncertain they will have any contact with someone between December 15 and January 1.

Mr Cummings continued: “By bringing Winter Warmers back this November, we hope it will continue to be just as impactful across the winter months for those who need it most, as well as offering a relaxed social environment to come and chat to others.”
