Results have been declared for most seats across 48 urban local bodies (ULBs) in Jharkhand, where vote counting commenced earlier in the day. Outcomes for the mayoral elections in Ranchi and several other key districts have already been announced.
Civic body polling was conducted on February 23, with voters across the state electing representatives to urban local bodies. Of the 4.3 million registered voters, over 63 per cent cast their votes. The counting process began at around 8 am on Friday.
State Election Commission Secretary Radhe Shyam Prasad stated that ballot papers were initially being segregated and that results, beginning with ward councillor seats, were expected within a few hours.

Polling was carried out using two different ballot paper colours, white for councillor elections and pink for mayoral or chairperson polls.
Elections were held for mayor and chairperson posts in 48 urban local bodies, along with councillor positions in 1,042 wards spanning nine municipal corporations, 20 nagar parishads and 19 nagar panchayats.
A total of 562 candidates, including 235 women, contested the mayoral and chairperson positions, while 5,562 candidates, among them 2,727 women, were in the fray for ward councillor posts.

The results of the Khunti Nagar Panchayat election have been declared. BJP-backed candidate Rani Tuti won the civic polls, while Congress-supported candidate Manonit Bodra secured 5,298 votes and finished second.
