Laois are just one win away from a second successive All-Ireland title
Laois Camogie is calling on supporters across the county to get behind its Intermediate team after launching a fundraising appeal ahead of next month’s All-Ireland final in Croke Park.
The county board has established an iDonate page to help cover the costs of the team’s remarkable championship journey as Laois prepares for a third successive appearance in an All-Ireland decider.
The appeal comes in recognition of the commitment shown by the players and management over the past three seasons, with the current group enjoying an unprecedented run of success.
Having stepped up a grade this season, the county’s initial ambition was to establish themselves at Intermediate level and build towards a sustained challenge in the coming years.
Instead, Laois have exceeded expectations by reaching another All-Ireland final at the first attempt and now stand just 60 minutes away from becoming All-Ireland champions for a second successive year while also earning promotion to the Senior Championship for 2027.
In launching the fundraiser, Laois Camogie highlighted the achievement of reaching three consecutive All-Ireland finals and appealed to supporters to get behind the team.
“Laois Camogie has reached the All-Ireland Intermediate Final for the third year in a row, an incredible achievement for our players, mentors and supporters. After winning the Junior Premier title last year, this group has worked tirelessly to earn their place on the biggest stage once again.
“As you can imagine, reaching three consecutive All-Ireland finals brings significant costs. We have launched an iDonate fundraiser to help support the team on their journey to Croke Park. Every donation, no matter how small, will make a real difference and help our team represent Laois with pride.” the appeal said.
The iDonate page also pays tribute to the sacrifices made by the panel throughout their remarkable journey.
“Dreams really do come true,” the fundraiser begins.
“Just one year after winning the Junior Premier All-Ireland title, our incredible Laois Intermediate panel has earned their place in the Intermediate All-Ireland Final in Croke Park on Sunday, August 9.
“This is an extraordinary achievement and one that every player, coach, family and supporter should be immensely proud of. Even more remarkable, this is the third consecutive year that this Laois panel has reached an All-Ireland final – a reflection of the passion, dedication and talent within our county.”
The appeal also highlights the commitment required from the players, many of whom are balancing work, college and family life alongside inter-county camogie.
“Behind every training session, every match and every victory are countless hours of commitment and sacrifice. These girls have given everything to represent Laois with pride, balancing work, college, family life and training, all for the love of the game. Now they need our support.”
Laois Camogie is encouraging businesses, supporters and the wider community to contribute, whether through a donation, sponsorship or by sharing the appeal online.
The fundraiser concludes with a rallying call for the county to unite behind the team as they bid to create more history.
“Let’s come together as one county and show this incredible panel that they are not walking into Croke Park alone. They have inspired us with their determination, resilience and heart. Now it’s our turn to stand behind them. Together, let’s help make history.”
Laois v Antrim will take place at 2pm in Croke Park on Sunday, August 9.
