Sydney Martin, who plays Betsy Swain in the ITV soap, shared a series of wedding snaps

Coronation Street actress Sydney Martin looked absolutely stunning as she shared a series of snaps from a family wedding. The talented performer is widely recognised for her portrayal of Betsy Swain on the ITV drama, having joined the cast during the summer of 2024.
The teenager first graced Weatherfield last summer, initially appearing as Sabrina Adetiba’s friend.
However, it wasn’t long before viewers discovered, during the harrowing grooming plot involving the late Joel Deering, that Betsy is actually DS Lisa Swain’s daughter, whom she had with her late partner, Becky.
This represented Sydney’s major breakthrough and she recently celebrated a full year in the character, posting a heartfelt tribute on social media, reports the Manchester Evening News.
In a photograph uploaded to her Instagram account, she appeared delighted as she posed for the camera whilst clutching a cake topped with a single ‘1’ candle.
Captioning the image, the 23-year-old star said: “1 whole year of Betsy Swain. So incredibly lucky and grateful. I [love] my job.”
Beyond her duties on the famous street, Sydney frequently shares personal moments and keeps her devoted fanbase informed about her activities through social media.
Posting to Instagram on Sunday evening (August 24), the soap favourite shared exciting news as she revealed her mum had got married.
She began by uploading a mirror selfie for her followers, showcasing herself in a floral pyjama ensemble beneath a green silk robe, with her locks already arranged in a curly half-up, half-down style, whilst wearing a matching pearl earring, necklace and bracelet combination. Alongside the post, Sydney shared: “My mumma got married!” It was then the next post which showed Sydney, donning a pastel green bridesmaid dress, standing beside the radiant bride.

Upon joining Corrie, Sydney, hailing from Rossendale revealed that she informed her former employers about her first-ever TV role before even telling her family.
Sydney said she had dreams of becoming a zoo keeper before getting into drama in sixth form. She said: “I loved doing shows as a kid.
“I was really shy but when I was on the stage, I loved it. I didn’t know it was a career you could go into which is silly because people do it. But I got into sixth form and had the most amazing drama teachers who I owe everything to and I was like, why not give it a shot.”
She later went to drama school, with much of her training taking place during the Covid pandemic before her graduation in 2023. Sydney received the call about landing the role of Betsy while preparing to settle down and watch Pitch Perfect 3 with her flatmates.
She said: “I got a phone call, ran into the corner of a flat and was like, ‘It’s going to be a no, keep watching. Just let me have my moment!’ But my agent phoned me and said, ‘Go hand in your notice!’ I was doing six days a week at Tesco which is quite the career change!”.
Upon informing her parents, Sydney confessed: “I did go to Tesco and hand my notice in first!” before revealing her dad’s worries about her leaving her job and the need for a reference from the supermarket chain.
She continued: “They were overjoyed. They always say they don’t know where I got my creative bones from because they’re in completely different careers… I could not have asked for a better first opportunity. They’re by biggest fans. They’re over the moon. I had my first little picture in a magazine and they’ve got about ten of them.”
