2FM’s Roz and Aisling lift lid on wedding plans as they’re set to marry three weeks apart

The two thirds of 2FM’s hit Breakfast Show team are set to walk down the aisle next summer – but admit that there is a lot of procrastinating going on in the lead-up

2FM’s Roz Purcell and Aisling Bonner have lifted the lid on their respective wedding days – revealing that they are getting married only three weeks apart from one another.

The radio duo, who host breakfast alongside Carl Mullan, joked that they are as bad as each other when it comes to actually planning their special day.

Roz got engaged to long-time love Zach Desmond in 2023 while Aisling said yes to fiancé Alex at the end of last year.

With their weddings set to take place next summer, the pair, who are gearing up for 2FM Late Breakfast Live with the RTÉ Concert Orchestra next month, have admitted to procrastinating.

Aisling told RSVP Live: “I’m ever so slightly ahead of Roz, we’re getting married very close to one another – maybe three weeks apart.

“We’re both fairly slow to get the ball moving on every aspect of this, but I have the venue, the photographer, the DJ. I got my dress, that was exciting, that was probably the best bit.

“In terms of finer details, they have yet to be worked out. There’s been a lot of procrastination going on, but sure it’ll be done when it’s done.”

Roz added: “We both have terribly the same attitude to getting married: ‘It’ll be done when it’s done, it’ll be fine’. Neither of us are feeling the actual pressure.

“Ais is getting married in about seven months, I’m getting married in about six and I have half the things organised that Ais does, so…

“We enable each other to be really bad,” Aisling joked.

Roz is opting for a low-key wedding to Zach rather than an extravagant celebration.

She explained: “Zach and I are having a very small wedding, it will probably just be a dinner.

“Both of our lives are chaotic, we probably won’t be going for a big band or party afterwards.

“I never really thought about a wedding growing up or what I want, so I’m still trying to figure that out. Each week it kind of changes when I speak to someone new about the wedding or getting married.

“But one thing Zach and I agreed on was that we both wanted a really small wedding.

“We wanted it in Ireland so people wouldn’t feel like they had to fly to another country, or take up too much of their holiday time, to spend the day with us and celebrate.

“We’re anti-gifts and all that, because we just don’t need anything and we’d rather people just be able to celebrate with us and not be put under pressure.”

Ais, meanwhile, will say I do in the city centre.

She said: “I’m having a Dublin city wedding, it means the most to us because my fiancé Alex and I live in town.

“He’s American and no other place in Ireland would make sense, so we’re sticking to town.”

Aisling and Alex will head Stateside for their honeymoon as they have a jam packed summer lined up.

“I’ve got a bit of a mad honeymoon planned,” she added.

“My fiancé Alex is American so we’re going to have a load of Yanks coming over for the wedding, so we didn’t really want to ‘peace out’ so soon after when they’re all still here.

“So we’re going to spend a few days with them in Kinsale after the wedding, which will be what it will be.

“Eight days after our wedding, we’re going to one of Alex’s friends’ wedding in Kentucky, so we’re going to jet off there and from there find somewhere interesting to go.

“We’re thinking maybe New Orleans. People who have already gotten married are probably thinking we’ll be exhausted by the time we get there, so we’ll see.”

While Roz and Zach are hoping to tick off a bucket list trip.

She said: “We haven’t decided, but we always said there is one trip we’ve always wanted to do and that we’d do it on our honeymoon and that would be hiking across New Zealand for four or five weeks.”
