In a tribute, his family said he was a “true family man” with a varied life including time as a car mechanic, working in hosiery and driving dumper trucks. He was later a salesman with Potters Carpets.

Jozef passed away at home on 12th May 2026. A devoted husband to the late Barbara, loving Father to Alicia, Edward and Joanna. Grandfather to Alex, Michael and Kathryn. (Rod) Rodney Malvern Lawrence, lovingly known as Rod, passed away peacefully at home on 11th May 2026, aged 79, with his family by his side after a short illness. Born on 2nd October 1946, Rod lived a full and varied life, filled with warmth, humour, and dedication to those he loved. A much-loved and devoted husband to Christine, cherished dad to Julie, Michelle and Tina, and a proud granddad and great-granddad. Rod was a true family man who treasured time spent with his loved ones and friends. Rod had a wide and interesting working life, including roles as a car mechanic, working in hosiery, driving dumper trucks on Jelson sites, and later as a salesman with Potters Carpets, where he truly thrived. He had a natural gift for conversation and found great satisfaction in helping people. In his leisure time, Rod enjoyed following snooker and travelled widely, taking many memorable cruises, particularly around the Canary Islands and the Norwegian fjords. A service to celebrate Rod’s life will be held on Friday 5th June at 12:30pm at Loughborough Crematorium. All are welcome to attend and honour his memory. Family flowers only, please. Donations in lieu of flowers may be made to the RNLI. Rod will be deeply missed by all who knew and loved him.
(Day) It is with great sadness to announce the passing of our lovely Mum Carol. Carol passed away at Loughborough Hospital on Monday the 18th May 2026. A wonderful Mother to Jon and Christopher. Jon and Christopher would like to thank Loughborough Hospital for caring so much for Carol. A Celebration of her life will be held on Monday 15th June at 1.15pm at Loughborough Crematorium in the Chapel. For Carol’s final journey her wishes were to be taken by Horse and Carriage on to Sileby Cemetery for Burial. Everyone is welcome to attend. David Sydenham of Woodhouse Eaves passed away peacefully at home on Friday 22nd May aged 83 years. Beloved husband of Heather, loving father of Fiona, Catriona and Christopher, and grandfather to Hector, Hayden, Isadora, Poppy and Florence. David was an engineer and founded local business CMS Cepcor, of which he was Chairman at the time of his death. David’s memorial service is to be held at St Paul’s Church, Woodhouse Eaves on Monday 8th June at 2pm.
