The organisers of a Leicestershire festival have addressed ‘damaging’ comments which have been circulating online after its postponement was announced.
Hinckfest, a family-friendly festival which hosts tribute acts alongside food and drink, was cancelled one week before it was scheduled to go ahead on Saturday, June 6.
Organisers have apologised for postponing the event, and said they were ‘forced’ to do so due to circumstances “beyond our control”.
They subsequently shared that the festival would still be going ahead on a new date and at a different venue, which is to be confirmed.
Bosses however were soon required to issue an important statement addressing rumours and “social media nonsense”.
The statement said that ‘false’ information had been circulating online, with the individuals ‘responsible’ identified.
Organisers said the matter has been “reported to the police”.
In a statement, the organisers of Hinckfest said: “We feel it is important to address the rumours, speculation and social media nonsense that have been circulating in recent days and put the matter firmly to bed.
“It has come to our attention that false and damaging comments regarding Hinckfest and its organisers have been posted on social media.
“We have identified the individuals responsible for a number of these posts, and the matter has been reported to the police.
“We would like to reassure all ticket holders and supporters that Hinckfest 2026 WILL be going ahead, as previously stated.
“We will not allow the actions of a small number of individuals to detract from what promises to be a fantastic event for the people of Hinckley.
“Our team has worked tirelessly to bring this festival together, and we remain fully committed to delivering an outstanding event.
“As many of you are aware, we were unfortunately forced to postpone the festival with just one week to go due to circumstances beyond our control.”
The festival was originally due to take place at Hinckley Rugby Football Club in Leicester Road.
The club however were unable to accommodate alternative dates for Hinckfest due to a lack of ‘suitable’ dates.
In a statement, a spokesperson for Hinckley Rugby Football Club said: “HinckFest, which was due to take place on June 6, was cancelled this week at short notice.
“For information, Hinckley RFC will not be available as a location for the event in the future due to the lack of any suitable dates in 2026.”
In light of the news, organisers of Hinckfest said they were ‘pleased’ to confirm that a new site has been secured for the 2026 edition of the festival.
Tickets which have been purchased for the postponed event are to remain valid for the new date.
Anyone wishing to receive a refund is advised to reply to an email sent by TicketSource, with refunds to then be processed ‘accordingly’.
Hinckfest’s organisers added: “We are pleased to confirm that a new site has now been secured for Hinckfest 2026.
“We have been working closely with the relevant local authorities and our sponsors Jaspers of Hinckley Ltd. and will be announcing full details early next week.
“The facts are simple: Hinckfest is going ahead, planning is well under way, and we are focused on delivering a fantastic festival for our ticket holders, traders, performers and the wider Hinckley community.
“We would encourage people to rely only on official Hinckfest announcements and not on rumours or unverified social media posts.
“All tickets have been sold through TicketSource. Tickets purchased for the postponed event remain valid for the new date.
“Any ticket holder who would prefer a refund should reply to the email sent via TicketSource, and refunds will be processed accordingly.
“We would like to thank everyone for their continued support, patience and understanding.
“We look forward to welcoming you to Hinckfest 2026 and making it a memorable event for the whole community.”
The full details of the new venue, event date, ticket information, and updated entertainment line-up are to be announced next week.
