Great forecast through Christmas and St Stephen’s Day
Weather for today – plenty of cloud and drizzle before change from tomorrow
We’re about to see a big change in the weather, just in time for Christmas and just about what we would hope for as families across Cork get ready to celebrate the big day.
After a period of very wet and unsettled weather, Christmas Eve through to St Stephen’s Day should be the opposite, with fine, dry and very settled conditions and plenty of sunshine during the day. Those are idea conditions for trying out a new bike from Santa – or getting out for a walk before the turkey and trifle.
However, it will be chilly, with daytime highs of just 6C in some parts of Cork on Christmas Day and then the prospect of it getting even colder as we head towards New Year’s Eve.
Met Éireann has talked of the wintry showers and very cold conditions to come – and some weather models are showing the possibility of snow across southern parts of Ireland around New Year’s Day.
Some very cold weather is expected across much of Central and Northern Europe as we enter 2026 with an artic blast set to bring snow and ice to many countries.
