Tesla has lost its position as the world’s biggest seller of electric vehicles.

The Chinese carmaker BYD is now in top spot, after its sales rose by nearly 28% last year to 2.2m vehicles.

Its American rival Tesla, owned by Elon Musk, saw car sales drop to 1.6m in the same period.
