A Nuneaton hospital worker says she has been left ‘sickened and upset’ by a thief who struck as she cared for patients. Jade Brace was working a night shift at the George Eliot Hospital and was left devastated when she went to the staff car park on her break.
The health care worker found that her white Toyota RAV4 had been stolen. “It’s absolutely disgusting that I can’t even go to work caring for people and someone thinks it’s okay to steal my car with personal belongings in it whilst I’m inside working trying hard to make a living,” she said.
“These people are now stooping as low as to steal from hospitals from NHS staff who are working tirelessly with the growing demand for the hospital at the moment and I was working a 12.5 hour night shift to find my car had been stolen on my break.”

Security footage shows the car was taken from the staff car park at 12.06am by a suspect dressed in all black with their face covered. The car was last seen speeding along the A444 in Nuneaton.
The Granby Road resident said that the car is not only vital for her work but also to her personal life too. “I have a disabled daughter at home who this has deeply affected because our car was used for country drives when she was feeling dysregulated, ” she explained.
“The motion of the car soothed her and we are unable to do this at the moment.”
It also contained some incredibly sentimental items too. “I also had some worry beads left in the car that had been left to me by my grandma who passed away 15 years ago,” she said.
Due to the theft of her car, she said she was unable to finish her shift on the Acute Medical Unit (AMU) and had to walk home in the cold in just a cardigan.
“My coat was in the car and I felt I was unable to go back up to work and finish my shift due to the stress of the ordeal and I wouldn’t have been able to concentrate and give the patients my best which would be unfair for both,” the mum added.
She is now desperate to replace the stolen car and has launched a fund-raiser to help come up with enough money for a deposit.
“Any little amount will help,” she said.

The police have been informed about the theft, which took place overnight on Wednesday, February 4 into Thursday, February 5.
The hospital has said that it will provide any help it can to the investigation. A spokesperson for George Eliot Hospital NHS Trust said: “We are aware of a vehicle theft from the hospital and recognise it is very distressing for our colleague. This is an especially upsetting thing to happen to them while they were caring others, and we are providing them our full support.
“We’re cooperating with the police and assisting with their enquiries in any way we can. We are also reviewing relevant security measures.
“The safety and wellbeing of our staff and patients remains a priority and we encourage anyone with any further information to contact the police directly.”
