This Morning: Corrie’s Jonathan Howard on the upcoming murder plot

Fans of Coronation Street reckon a major twist is on the horizon for Carla Connor, as they’re convinced a familiar face could be making their way back to the cobbles.

ITV soap watchers will recall that Carla (Alison King) started a relationship with police officer Lisa Swain (Vicky Myers) in 2024, with the pair being dubbed a “power couple” by viewers.

Yet their romantic happiness was quickly shattered by the reappearance of Lisa’s wife, Becky (Amy Cudden), who had been presumed dead. Becky’s sinister nature soon emerged when she attempted to remove Carla from the equation by abducting her and keeping her captive.

The antagonist was subsequently arrested and imprisoned, shortly after the events of the Corriedale crossover. Carla and Lisa are now engaged and happily live at number six, alongside Lisa’s teenage daughter, Betsy (Sydney Martin), and Carla’s nephew, Ryan (Ryan Prescott), reports the Daily Star.

Their home became slightly more crowded on Monday (March 2) when Carla discovered a baby in a car seat, who had been left on their doorstep.

Lisa immediately pursued the woman who had left the infant there. She subsequently came back to disclose that the baby was called Connie, and she was the daughter of Carla’s villainous brother, Rob Donovan (Marc Baylis), and a prison officer named Mandy.

The infant’s grandmother asked if they could care for Connie whilst she was in hospital. Carla initially declined, despite Lisa pointing out that she was the child’s aunt and that, without her intervention, the child would probably end up in care.

Carla eventually conceded, with the inhabitants of number six swiftly recognising that their routine was about to shift.

In Wednesday’s (March 4) episode, now available for streaming on ITVX, Carla was seen bouncing Connie on her knee as they watched television together. Observing a shift in her fiancée’s demeanour, Lisa remarked: “I’m seeing you, there’s a difference.”

Now, numerous Corrie fans are speculating that Rob’s other child, Bobby Crawford (Jack Carroll), will return to meet his baby sister.

Bobby came to live with Carla back in 2023, after his mum disclosed that Rob was his father. He soon started working with his aunt at Underworld, and notably attempted to impress Lauren Bolton (Cait Fitton), although she spurned his advances.

Bobby’s final scenes were broadcast in May 2025 when the character departed for a holiday in Spain. His exit was confirmed to viewers shortly after his last appearance on screen.

Regarding the potential return of Bobby, one fan posted on a Facebook fan page: “I think he’ll come back to see his sister.”

Another chimed in: “Yeah, I think he’ll be back at some point. His exit was so strange,” whilst a third commented: “I liked Bobby. Would love to see him come back.” A fourth viewer echoed these thoughts, stating, “Yes, this would be great. It would be nice to see Carla and Lisa have a proper family with Betsy, Ryan, Connie and Bobby.”
