Shoppers heading to Morrisons between now and April 24 can benefit from a 10% discount on their weekly shopping every Friday when spending £40 or more – provided they meet one straightforward eligibility requirement.

Through the supermarket giant’s latest collaboration with Blue Light Card, customers can access substantial savings on this weekly promotion.

Running every Friday until April 24, Blue Light Card holders – those currently working in or retired from the emergency services, NHS, social care sector, teaching profession or armed forces – simply need to redeem their discount code via the Blue Light Card app.

This money-saving initiative comes at a crucial time as the cost of everyday groceries and household essentials continues to rise amid the UK’s cost of living crisis, reports the Express.

Latest research from Which? shows a typical weekly shop at Morrisons comes to around £187.65.

Blue Light cardholders taking advantage of this exclusive promotion could save roughly £18.77 per shop – potentially totalling a significant £131.39 by the time the offer concludes.

Joe Mathison, Head of Strategic Partnerships at Blue Light Card, said: “Families across the country are feeling the impact of price hikes, with grocery costs at an all time high.

“We want to do everything we can to thank the everyday heroes that make up the Blue Light community, so we’re pleased to partner with Morrisons once again to offer key workers extra support this February.

“Savings like this can genuinely make a difference to those on the front line – and it couldn’t be easier to access.”

Morrisons stands as the UK’s fifth-largest supermarket chain, with its origins dating back to 1899 when William Morrison established the business. Starting from modest beginnings, the retailer began life as an egg and butter stall at Bradford’s Rawson Market.

Prior to 2004, the supermarket’s outlets were predominantly concentrated in the North of England, but the acquisition by Safeway that year resulted in substantial expansion across Wales, Scotland and the South of England.

The retailer has previously partnered with Blue Light Card to offer similar reductions, and customers can visit the Blue Light Card website to learn more about currently available offers.

Morrisons also rewarding select drivers with extra More points

Additional changes are currently underway at Morrisons. The supermarket chain has recently announced a major change across its car parks to benefit particular motorists.

The British retailer has joined forces with Motor Fuel Group (MFG) to incentivise electric vehicle drivers, granting them bonus Morrisons More points when they charge their EVs at its car parks.

This fresh scheme was introduced over the past weekend, with EV drivers collecting 5 More Points for every £1 spent, which can be redeemed at any Morrisons supermarket.

Overall, Morrisons runs 497 supermarkets and more than 1,700 Morrisons Daily convenience and franchise outlets. MFG has confirmed a £105 million investment programme to enhance Morrisons’ forecourt facilities as part of their collaboration.

The company intends to roll out an additional 250 ultra-rapid charging points at Morrisons forecourts throughout this year, according to their announcement.

Matt McLellan, Group Customer, Marketing and Data Director at Morrisons, said: “We are always looking for new ways to give our customers more value through the Morrisons More programme, and this partnership with MFG does exactly that.

“Rewarding customers with 5 Morrisons More Points for every £1 spent charging at all MFG EV Power bays across the UK means they can earn valuable points on the road and enjoy savings when they shop with us in store.

“As more drivers make the switch to electric vehicles, it’s important that we continue to evolve our loyalty offering to reflect how our customers live their lives.

“By linking EV charging with Morrisons More Points, we’re making it even easier for customers to benefit from choosing Morrisons – whether they’re filling their fridge or powering their car.”
