Spring is just around the corner, which means many of us are getting ready to bring out our seasonal wardrobe staples and hit the shops for fresh pieces to update our look. One retailer whose latest SS25 collection has caught our eye is Next, and we’ve found a two-piece linen co-ord that appears to take inspiration from a luxury design, offering a more budget-friendly alternative for fans of that aesthetic.

The Stripe Smart Front Linen Blend Wide Leg Trousers, €49.50, and coordinating Linen Blend Shell Top, €25, are offered in three colour combinations – pink and orange, khaki and green, and brown and ecru – and can be found in sizes six to 26 (though certain sizes are currently unavailable in some shades).

Crafted from a comfortable and airy blend of 55% Linen and 45% LivaecoTM Viscose, the trousers feature a wide leg cut that suits various body types. Thanks to this premium fabric composition, the trousers have earned praise for ‘hanging beautifully,’ reports the Mirror.

Creating a polished appearance that pairs perfectly with the coordinating top as well as a crisp white linen shirt, strappy cami or even a knit, the trousers combine style with ease thanks to an elasticated waistband secured at the front with a button. Style enthusiasts can enhance the trousers’ look with a belt using the integrated belt loops. This striped design bears a resemblance to Beyond Nine’s sought-after and beautiful pieces, such as its Blair Denim Jeans, which are currently reduced to €119.95 from €171.95.

Offered in various colours and patterns, the trousers feature horizontal stripes with a hem that has vertical stripes for a distinctive, dimensional appearance. Much like Next’s finish, these trousers also feature an elasticated waistband with a button fastening. They’re crafted from 100% cotton and have a 64.5cm inseam across all sizes, which might not suit taller individuals.

Meanwhile, at Nobody’s Child, customers can purchase the Green Striped Reese Wide Leg Trousers for £69. They feature a drawstring tie for an adjustable fit, along with a coordinating Linen-blend Swing Top priced at €105.

One noteworthy and popular feature of the Next trousers, though, is their availability in four different leg lengths to accommodate various heights – short, regular, long and extra long. The accompanying swing-style top, featuring a crew neckline and button fastening at the back, is also offered in petite and regular sizes.

The striped trousers and top have each achieved an impressive average star rating of 4.7, with enthusiastic reviews praising how ‘attractive’ the design is. One customer gushed: “So happy with these trousers. Purchased in a 12 petite. They hang beautifully. I also bought the matching top in a 10 Regular.” Another admirer of the trousers lauded their versatility, stating: “These are a lovely fit and very comfortable. They look amazing paired with the matching top. Can wear them as a full outfit and as separates.”

One individual chimed in: “I bought these for summer, nice fit around the waist and true to size.” However, they did highlight one downside: “but they [are] very long so I opted for a petite and I’m 5ft 7.” This is definitely something to bear in mind when placing an order. For help with sizing, the brand does provide a guide on its product pages to ensure the perfect fit.
