The May bank holiday has finally arrived, and everyone is looking forward to some much needed time off. Whether you are planning a weekend of relaxation or want to make the most off the extra day off work, you’re probably wondering what kind of weather we’ll be expecting this weekend.
With promises of warm weather on the horizon, I think it’s safe to say you can dust off your shorts and flip flops. There have been predictions of 20C temperatures across Wales this Friday, May 1 which will rival some European hot spots. However the temperature will drop slightly by the time we reach bank holiday Monday (May, 4), so don’t put away your cardigans just yet.

Over the weekend and leading into bank holiday Monday, the temperature will stay warm however showers and thunder are possible.
The Met Office shared that Wales can expect the weather to be “turning more unsettled into the weekend with more showers and possible thundery outbreaks”. They added: “Staying warm for the coming days.”
Saturday
Much like the previous day, Saturday, May 2, will see highs in Wrexham of 18C.
Other temperatures across Wales appear to be remaining in the mid teens.

Monday
The beginning of next week will then have a settled start with many areas seeing dry weather.
It appears that Monday mimics the weather of the previous day, where Wales can expect warm weather in the early teens.
Although, the Met Office added that “we are unlikely to see a return of the completely dry and warm weather we have see in recent days, with clear or sunny periods and showers more likely”.

The long range weather forecast continues: “Toward the latter part of the period a trend toward more changeable weather is favoured although there should still be some drier intervals.
“Overall temperatures likely close to or a little below average at first, especially in the north, then returning close to average or rather warm later.”
