Future Building Developments Ltd cements reputation for excellence

A GLASGOW company’s outstanding building work has been recognised with five major wins at the Scottish Home Improvement Awards.

Future Building Developments Ltd won the accolade of Scotland’s Best Home Extension/Conversion category and was also named runner-up in the Best Building Contractor, Best Joinery Firm, Best All Trades Firm and Best Home of the Year categories.

It’s a huge achievement for the firm which has been a consistent winner at the awards over the last few years, having previously won Best Building Contractor and Best Joinery Firm.

Future Building Developments Ltd has also been runner-up in the Best Home Extension/Conversion category before taking the crown this year.

Director Connor McAnea said it was recognition of the firm’s high standards and the hard work of his employees.

“Home extensions are our bread and butter so to win that is really good for us,” he said. “It shows off the team’s hard work and dedication every week which is great. I think we were the only company to come away with that number of awards so it was a pretty big clean-up for us.”

Being highly recommended for Home of the Year was also a proud win for Mr McAnea as the award was judged on their biggest project to date, involving a large rear extension with a roof terrace and a full internal renovation, including a loft and a basement conversion.

The accolades demonstrate how far the firm has come in the last few years as it has grown from two vans and three employees to seven vans and 12 employees.

Mr McAnea’s books are full for the rest of the year and are quickly filling up for next year, which is particularly impressive considering that the business has grown mostly through word of mouth from satisfied clients.

“If you do a good job it carries onto the next,” he said. “Being organised is key and treating everyone else’s home as if it is your own. I say that to the guys all the time. Leave a job the way you would want your home to be left and it continues from there.”

He has been working in the industry for 17 years, first working for his father, Scott, then taking over the reins in 2021.

“We have been in the industry so long that we are well organised and do a really professional job,” Mr McAnea said. “We know how to visualise and transform someone’s home and people seem to like it. We are also efficient. People are always commenting on how speedily we can carry out the project.”

The business’s core staff are all experienced joiners and a number of contractors work on a steady basis on all the builds.

It means Future Building Developments Ltd can organise the whole job from start to finish, so all the work can be carried out on schedule as planned. “People want to contract you to do the whole job so there is no third party involvement and no delays,” said Mr McAnea.

“I’m loyal to my contractors and we use the same ones every week. We organise the plumbers, electricians, bricklayers, roofers, plasterers and roughcasters. The only people I don’t supply are painters and tilers as people often have someone in mind or want to do that themselves. I can recommend trustworthy painters and tilers if required. We also work with good architects and designers to help make clients’ dreams a reality.”

More architects are now looking to the firm to complete their projects.

“The more we have been expanding, the more architects are getting to know us and are wanting to work with us,” said Mr McAnea. “It’s always good for an architect to get positive feedback from a client. If the architect can rely on you to make a professional job it makes them look good too.”

Future Building Developments Ltd caters for all aspects of building, including extensions, sunrooms, new builds, renovations, garage conversions and loft conversions.

“We have a commitment to put the customer at the heart of all the company’s services and this is illustrated by our excellent repeat business performance,” said Mr McAnea. “Our expert craftsmen use only the highest quality timber and joinery techniques to create timber frames for domestic projects across Glasgow. We handle timber framing for new construction as well as conversions. The natural beauty and sustainability of a timber frame will stand the test of time.”

If an extension is not required, more space can be created with an innovative loft conversion by Future Developments Ltd. A conversion will also increase the value of the property.

Garage conversions are increasingly popular too and provide an excellent opportunity to add valuable living space to a home.

Future Building Developments also regularly undertake full property renovations in Glasgow, Scotland.

“We have been transforming property across the area for many years, priding ourselves on providing a high quality of service,” said Mr McAnea.
