The DJ who performed at Brooklyn Beckham’s wedding has revealed exactly what happened at the ceremony, after Brooklyn claimed his mother, Victoria, hijacked his first dance.
The 26-year-old released a six-page statement earlier this week about his relationship with his parents, following months of rumours that he was estranged from David and Victoria.
The most notable part of his statement was the claim that his mother hijacked his first dance, leaving him ‘uncomfortable and humiliated’. He wrote: “In front of our 500 wedding guests, Marc Anthony called me to the stage, where in the schedule [it] was planned to be my romantic dance with my wife but instead my mum was waiting to dance with me instead. She danced very inappropriately on me in front of everyone. I’ve never felt more uncomfortable or humiliated in my entire life.”
More fuel was added to the fire when a guest who attended the 2022 wedding came forward to share their perspective on the incident. Stavros Agapiou, husband of British DJ Fat Tony, who was invited to perform at the wedding’s reception, appeared to post a comment under an Instagram post backing up Brooklyn’s claim, saying: “I was there and she did he’s telling the truth”.
Now, DJ Fat Tony is breaking his silence on the matter by appearing on This Morning with Alison Hammond and Dermot O’Leary.
He began: “I was overtaken by the whole Beckham saga and Beckham gate. Yes, I was the DJ at the wedding; it wasn’t a one-day wedding, it was a three-day wedding. I did the welcome party, the wedding, and a brunch on Sunday, which was the most awkward part of it all, because everything that had gone on on the actual wedding night was discussed amongst all the guests on the next morning.”
The DJ explained that he has been receiving thousands of messages on social media asking him to tell his side of the story, and said: “There was no slut dropping, there was no black cat PVC cat suit, there was no Spice Girl action.
“So what happened was Mark Anthony was performing on stage, he then called Brooklyn on stage.
“Brooklyn went on to the stage, and the next minute everyone’s expecting Nicola to go up and do the first dance, and then Mark asked for the most beautiful woman in the room to come to the stage, and then he says, ‘Victoria, come to the stage’.
“So Victoria is by the stage, she goes onto the stage, and of course, at that point, Brooklyn is suddenly literally, like, devastated because he thought he was going to do his first dance with his wife. Then Nicola leaves the room, crying her eyes out.
“Brooklyn is stuck there on stage, and then they do this dance, and Marc Anthony is like ‘put your hands on your mother’s hips’, and it was a Latin thing, and the whole situation was really awkward for everyone in the room.”
He continued: ‘I’ve done an awful lot of Beckham parties in the past, and they are a very dancey, close-knit family, they love to dance. So you know, what we deem as ‘inappropriate’ is not how Brooklyn feels.
“This is all about how Brooklyn feels. If he feels that it was inappropriate and awkward, it was inappropriate and awkward.”
The DJ believes that Brooklyn stepping back and releasing the statement is his way of doing closure, saying: “I think that the noise needs to die down, everyone needs to step back from it. We live in a world where everyone is judge, jury, and executioner on Instagram, on TikTok. I didn’t realise there was like two and a half million people at that wedding, because everyone seems to think they were there.”
“The dance is a very small part of the bigger problem.”
