Former Emmerdale star Charley Webb has broken her silence following the heartbreaking death of her mum yesterday – sharing an emotional tribute with fans. The actress, best known for playing Debbie Dingle on the long-running ITV soap Emmerdale, revealed the sad news in a touching Instagram post on Sunday, March 15, which also happened to be Mother’s Day.
Charley shared a childhood photo of herself alongside her mum and wrote a heartfelt message reflecting on their final years together touching on the impact of her mum’s painful battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
She penned: “My beautiful Mum left us today on Mother’s Day. 15/03/2026. The past twelve years were stolen from us, that’s the only way to describe this feeling. ‘The long goodbye’, Thank you to everyone for all of your support, especially everyone that’s looked after her so well for the last three years. And to all of my closest people, I couldn’t life without you.”
It wasn’t long before Charley was flooded with messages of love and support from friends, family and famous faces who rushed to comfort the grieving star.
Among them was actress Sheridan Smith, who wrote: “Babba, pleased you’re here with me and Billy, we love you”. Charley’s former Emmerdale co-star Lisa Riley also shared a heartfelt message, writing: “So much love and strength at this difficult time.” Actress Amy Nuttall added: “Oh Charley, I’m so so sorry to read this. I hope you’re surrounded by loved ones and have some support. Thinking of you and sending so much love.”
More tributes continued to pour in from well-known names, including author and presenter Giovanna Fletcher, who wrote: “Charley, sending you so much love and strength. Your Mumma will be a part of you always.” Meanwhile, actress and radio presenter Gemma Atkinson simply commented: “Oh Charley I’m so sorry.”

The sad news was first shared publicly by Charley’s brother, Jamie Lomas, who is known for his roles in Hollyoaks and EastEnders, who revealed their mum had died following a long battle with Alzheimer’s disease.
Posting a touching photo of the pair together, Jamie wrote: “After a 12 year battle with Alzheimer’s, she finally decided it was time to leave us. For anyone who knows what it’s like to have someone with this awful illness, you will know that you lose them not once but twice. Our mum was always so strong and to watch her over the years slowly turn into someone who is just a shell of who they once were is very difficult to take and watch.”
Jamie continued: “You are now at peace mum and we love you and we will miss you so so much. You were the first person to love me before the world even knew I existed. Good night mum RIP.”
