Russian strikes on Dnipro, Sumy, and Odesa regions leave people dead, wounded, and buildings damaged – Rubryka

Overnight on May 20, Russian forces attacked Dnipro with a ballistic missile and struck the Sumy and Odesa regions with attack drones. The strikes killed civilians, injured others, and damaged dozens of buildings.

Oleksandr Hanzha, head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration, Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, and the State Emergency Service reported the attacks. Konotop Mayor Artem Semenikhin provided details of the strikes on Konotop.

Dnipro

Overnight on May 20, Russian forces launched a ballistic strike on Dnipro.

“The enemy attacked Dnipro. A fire broke out. Information about casualties is being clarified,” Hanzha wrote.

The head of the Dnipropetrovsk Regional Military Administration initially reported that two people had been hospitalized with injuries. Later, the number of casualties rose to five. All of them were hospitalized, with a man and a woman in serious condition.

In the morning, Hanzha said the attack had killed two Dnipro residents and that the number of wounded had increased.

Two people were killed, and six were injured. These are the consequences of Russia’s overnight attack on Dnipro. Five of the wounded have been hospitalized. Doctors assess the condition of three of them as serious,” the official wrote at 6:56 a.m.

According to him, those in serious condition are:

A 42-year-old woman
Men aged 47 and 25

Doctors hospitalized two men, aged 47 and 40, in moderate condition. Another victim, a 27-year-old man, will receive outpatient treatment.

“A food warehouse, private houses, and a car were damaged,” the regional head added.

Konotop, Sumy region

Overnight into Wednesday, Russian forces also launched a massive drone attack on the Sumy region. The strike destroyed a five-story apartment building, and people remain trapped under the rubble as a search-and-rescue operation continues.

Konotop Mayor Artem Semenikhin reported drone strikes on private homes. Rescuers pulled three people from the rubble and hospitalized them.

“We have just pulled three people out from under the rubble. There are not enough ambulances, so we took them to the hospital in civilian vehicles,” the mayor said.

According to the regional administration, at least six people were injured. Semenikhin added that information about fatalities was still being clarified.

Authorities said three floors partially collapsed in the five-story building.

“Information about the wounded is being clarified. We pray that there will be no fatalities… Work to eliminate the consequences of the attacks continues. People are also being evacuated from damaged and nearby buildings,” Hryhorov wrote.

In addition, a hospital was damaged, and a museum was destroyed in Konotop.

Later, authorities also reported new strikes on residential buildings in the city. The mayor showed the aftermath of a hit on another apartment block in Konotop.

According to Oleh Hryhorov, head of the Sumy Regional Military Administration, strikes were also recorded in residential areas of the Konotop and Shostka communities.

Odesa

Russian drones also struck Odesa during the overnight attack.

The regional head said civilian and critical infrastructure facilities were hit.

“In Odesa, a drone hit a one-story residential building and completely destroyed it. A warehouse with dishes and an unfinished high-rise building were also damaged. Debris fell in a park, and the fire has been extinguished,” Kiper said.

According to the State Emergency Service, the strike damaged residential areas, warehouses, and a critical infrastructure facility.

Rescuers added that a fire broke out in a one-story residential building. They also recorded a drone strike on the 18th floor of an unfinished 24-story building.

In addition, a large fire broke out in a warehouse building.

Authorities deployed 86 rescuers and 20 units of State Emergency Service equipment to eliminate the consequences of the attack, along with volunteers from the Association of Volunteer Firefighters of Ukraine.
