Emmerdale actress Amy Walsh has been left devastated following a tragic loss with supporters rallying around her.

The 38 year old, recognised for her portrayal of Tracy Robinson on the ITV programme, turned to Instagram on Wednesday (January 7) to share heartbreaking news.

Amy posted to her Story, paying tribute to the late actor Frazer Hammill. “Rest in peace you wonderful man,” she penned beside a photograph of him.

Frazer built a career appearing in productions including Justice League, Last Laugh, Happy Valley and Abraham’s Point, and also featured as a prison guard in Emmerdale during 2021.

The John Godber Theatre Company broke the tragic news via their official Instagram account, stating: “We are deeply saddened to announce the passing of Frazer Hammill.

“It is impossible to put into words how much he will be missed by all of us who had the absolute joy of working with him.”

The Yorkshire theatre group continued: “Frazer had a huge, loving heart and enormous talent. We are all heartbroken.”, reports the Mirror.

A grief-stricken Amy responded in the comments section: “There are no words,” accompanied by three broken heart emojis.

Numerous others expressed their sorrow whilst sharing fond recollections of the former youth theatre performer.

One mourner commented: “Shocked and saddened to see this, sending my thoughts to his family and loved ones,” whilst another reflected: “A gentle spirit and a huge heart. Love to all.”

Someone else remarked: “What a brilliant person and performer he was! We’re all deeply saddened to hear this,” with a fellow commenter echoing: “Truly heartbroken.”

A fourth fan shared their condolences, writing: “Such sad news, I’ll always remember his lessons and his kind words. Thinking of his family and friends at this hard time,” whilst another added: “What an absolute gem of a man. A true loss to the world. RIP Frazman.”

Amy became part of the Emmerdale family in 2014, and has since featured in numerous gripping storylines throughout her tenure in the village.

Tracy’s journey has seen her cope with the devastating loss of her father, Frank Clayton (Michael Praed), become embroiled in an affair with Caleb Miligan (William Ash), and survive last year’s devastating limo crash.

The character also faced heartbreak when her husband, Nate Robinson (Jurell Carter), was murdered by killer John Sugden (Oliver Farnworth) in September 2024.

A flashback sequence revealed that John, who met his own demise at the hands of his sister Victoria (Isabel Hodgins) during this week’s Corriedale crossover, administered an unknown substance to Nate with the supposed aim of “saving” him. Tragically, Nate suffered a fatal reaction to the medication.

John subsequently transported Nate’s body to the bridge before disposing of the concealed corpse in the lake, the very location where the infamous limo crash had occurred.

Throughout her time on the ITV soap, Amy has received multiple award nominations for her compelling performance as Tracy, including Serial Drama Performance at the 25th National Television Awards, Best Actress at the 2021 Inside Soap Awards, and Best Soap Performance at that year’s I Talk Telly Awards.

Emmerdale airs weeknights on ITV1 at 8pm and available to stream from 7am on ITVX
