Davina McCall is a familiar face on our TV screens, having appeared on huge TV programmes over the last few decades including The Masked Singer, Big Brother and Long Lost Family. The 58-year-old has previously shared how she wishes to cut down on her TV work to focus on her health.

The Masked Singer panellist announced in November 2025 she had undergone surgery to remove a cancerous lump. She revealed she had been privately fighting breast cancer – nearly a year after having surgery to remove a brain tumour.

At the time of her brain tumour surgery, Davina explained it was a “very rare” 14mm tumour known as a colloid cyst, and so she would be taking some time “off grid” to recover.

She has also been open about her breast cancer diagnosis and received an outpouring of supportive messages at the time. She has since urged people to “notice any changes” and “get your free check-ups”. In a post on social media she said: “Never ignore a niggle. Sending out huge love.”

After a challenging year in her personal life, 2025 also brought with it an engagement for the TV presenter. For the last few years Davina had been dating hairdresser Michael Douglas, 49 and in the past, the pair have appeared on the likes of Celebrity Gogglebox.

McCall tied the knot with her partner in December last year, three months after getting engaged.

In the latest episode of their podcast ‘Making the Cut’, the couple spoke about Davina’s health journey and shared their aspirations for the new year.

Commenting on the supermoon sighting on January 3, The Masked Singer star said: “Ever since the 1st of January everything has changed…It was the supermoons…we got married and it was the supermoons.”

Davina offered her support to her husband who also shared his own heartbreak from the past year.

Becoming emotional, Michael said: “I think I had the hardest year of my life last year. I think it was so hard. It broke me really. I would say by November, I was done.”

“I just thought, ‘I don’t think I can recover from this.’ And I cannot tell you how good I feel….It’s the best I’ve felt for as long as I can remember.” Davina said: “But you have, and you are amazing.”

However, she has previously announced she is reducing her working hours after her health scare.

During an appearance on the Miss Me? podcast, she said: “I’m going to work a four-day week. I feel so much better now about my life and trying to get it more balanced.

“So now, really, as I hit this stage of my life, I want to take more care of myself. That is my latest project: me, because I can’t take care of anyone else if I’m not okay.”

As well as The Masked Singer, Davina is continuing her role on Long Lost Family. The ITV programme sees Davina and Nicky Campbell reunite family members after decades apart.

Davina feels “honoured” to work on the show and hopes to be a part of it for “as long as they want me”.

She told Best Magazine: “I love my work and intend taking it easier in order to calm my mind a bit. But as long as Long Lost Family want me, I’m there.

“It is definitely one of my favourite jobs. It is an absolute honour to work on and is the best ‘feel-good’ TV show in the entire universe. I know that I’m speaking for Nicky, too, when I say that I’m so blessed to be a part of it.”

She has previously shared how she stops herself from breaking down in tears when she delivers life-changing news to participants on the show.

Davina said: “I’ve taught myself to pinch my thumb or press my fingernail into the palm of my hand if I think I’m going to cry when I’m talking to the contributors.

“It would kill me to have one of them asking me if I was okay while I was revealing to them some of the most important information they’ll ever hear, answers to questions they’ve been waiting and waiting for, for decades. It is sometimes the biggest day of their lives.

“The last thing they need is to be worrying about either Nicky or me. Wanting to give us a hug! So, I’ll do anything to stop myself crying.”
