Bully Mark Scott admitted he attacked his partner of seven years at her Erskine home in July 2024.

The 37-year-old thug assaulted the woman and made threats to burn down the house.

The woman tried to flee from the home, but Scott, of Whitacres Path in South Nitshill, grabbed her back inside and repeatedly punched her all over her body.

She was left “screaming for help” but sadly nobody heard her.

Procurator fiscal depute Jason Stark told Paisley Sheriff Court: “On the evening of July 25, 2024, the accused and the woman were together drinking alcohol.

“Around 3am on July 26, both were lying on the couch, where the woman was trying to get to sleep, but the accused repeatedly spoke to her.

“The woman got up off the couch but the accused grabbed her and threw her back onto the couch, before proceeding to pour cans of cider over her and striking her on the head with the empty can.

“He then grabbed her again and threw her onto the floor, then stood on the right side of her face.

“The victim was crying and telling him to stop.

“The accused stopped and went into the kitchen.”

The town’s court heard the brute returned “appearing remorseful” to which the woman told him, “I don’t want to talk to you, this isn’t good enough”.

As she said this, he “switched” and “started going mental” again.

Mr Stark continued: “The woman went into the kitchen and the accused followed her in, where he started smashing the cooker and pulling drawers out.

“The woman went to [go upstairs], but the accused grabbed her by the back and threw her to the ground.”

Out-of-control Scott then began making threats that he was going to burn the house down, and he was setting fire to pieces of paper.

The woman managed to open the front door and screamed for help, but Scott got her back inside.

She managed to open it again, but Scott then attempted to pull her back into the house and pulled her to the floor, where he proceeded to punch and kick her, repeatedly, all over her body.

Mr Stark explained: “She was screaming for help, but nobody heard her.

“He then just stopped, so she got up and ran to her sister’s house.

“Police were contacted and attended where they met the accused, who was clearly under the influence of alcohol, slurring his words and being unsteady on his feet.

“Given Scott’s intoxication and intention to drive, police carried out a roadside breath test.

“The accused immediately became hostile with police before becoming physical by throwing punches and kicking out.”

Scott then tried to grab an officer’s face and threw “multiple punches towards him” before attempting to push him down a flight of stairs and repeatedly attempted to bite his leg.

Defence agent Ms Miller told the court Scott has “shown remorse.”

She added: “A year prior to this, his father passed away and he felt the woman was antagonising him about his mental health.

“An argument started and he was making claims that she was having a relationship with her brother-in-law.

“He understands he will likely receive a custodial sentence.”

Sheriff Thomas McCartney stated: “The offences you pled guilty involve domestic abuse.

“It is concerning your previous convictions involve violence.

“Having regard to the serious nature of the crimes, only a prison sentence is appropriate.”

Sheriff McCartney jailed Scott for a total of two-and-a-half years.

In addition, he was banned from driving for nine months, and a non-harassment order was made for seven years, preventing him from contacting or approaching his ex-partner.
