The full list of candidates standing in Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council elections has been revealed. Voters across the two towns will go to the polls on Thursday, May 7.
This is to decide who will represent their voice at the Town Hall. There will be 19 seats in the 19 wards at the local authority up-for-grabs.
This year’s local election is especially significant as the council is currently no overall control as Labour has 18 members with 17 Conservatives, two Green party members and one Liberal Democrat. The Labour group currently holds the power with the positions of leader and cabinet members.

Labour, which is fielding candidates in every seat, faces competition from Reform UK and the Conservatives, who both have candidates standing in every ward. The Green Party has also fielded a large number of candidates and there are also several Liberal Democrats and Trade Unionist and Socialist Coalition candidates vying for seats.
The local elections have not been without controversy as Nuneaton and Bedworth Borough Council’s previous leader, councillor Chris Watkins, was ousted from his role over government consultation about if the election should go ahead. Less than 24 hours later, the government confirmed that Nuneaton and Bedworth elections were not on the list to be delayed and that they will still go ahead on May 7.
