In the Danish city of Aarhus, an educational space for Ukrainian children has been opened at the Lastivka Aarhus base, where classes in Ukrainian studies, country studies, and creative workshops are held every Saturday.

This was reported on Facebook by the Ukrainian public organization in Denmark Lastivka, according to Rubryka.

The new educational space, operating at the local branch of Lastivka Aarhus, combines learning with the development of national identity. Organizers emphasize that preserving the Ukrainian language and traditions is an important link to home that needs to be maintained even abroad.

The educational program includes several key areas:

Ukrainian studies — the central element of the program, aimed at preserving identity;
Country studies — exploring the surrounding world and supporting integration;
Creative studios — developing talents and artistic abilities;
Additional activities — for well-rounded personal development.

“The educational space is a place where children grow with roots and wings. Here, they not only learn, but also feel part of something bigger — the Ukrainian community, culture, and history,” the Lastivka noted.

The organization’s main areas of work remain:

coordination of a network of Ukrainian schools, including the Rodovid School Copenhagen in Copenhagen;
development of “Lastivka Radio” — the first Ukrainian radio station in Denmark;
support for its own football and volleyball clubs;
promotion of Ukrainian art among Danes.

Lastivka, which traces its history back to 2014, now unites more than 10 local branches across the country. The community is a delegated member of the World Congress of Ukrainians and the Association of Ukrainians in Denmark.

It is noted that the organization’s activities are also supported by the Danish association CISU, which enables the implementation of large-scale projects aimed at building a strong and integrated Ukrainian community.

Earlier, Rubryka reported on a volunteer initiative in Copenhagen helping Ukrainian children maintain a connection with Ukraine while living abroad.

It is also worth noting that the Danish government plans to change residence rules for certain groups of Ukrainian refugees. In particular, men of conscription age and residents of some safer regions of Ukraine may no longer qualify for residence permits granted under the country’s special legislation.
