Ireland has enjoyed some warm weather so far this week, with highs of 19C in some parts of the county.
However, a bit of a change is forecasted, as some showers of rain which may even turn thundery are on the way. Ireland Weather Channel’s Cathal Nolan predicts that “change is coming” but there will still be sunshine to enjoy as the days go on.
As for the bank holiday weekend, there should be dry weather for most parts of the country. For Dublin specifically, Met Eireann forecasts mixed conditions of rain, an isolated thunderstorm and temperature highs of 15 degrees.
Posting a new forecast to Facebook, Mr Nolan said: “It’s a beautiful day across the country with wall to wall sunshine being recorded at present. It’s a pleasantly warm day in the western half of the country with afternoon highs here reaching up to 19 or 20 degrees Celsius, but only reaching 13-14 degrees Celsius along eastern coastal fringes where a fresh and gusty easterly wind will make it feel much colder.
“A change is coming however with the first signs of that change developing this evening with high cloud building across southern areas. Showery outbreaks of thundery rain will develop here overnight into tomorrow morning before spreading northwards across the country. Some thundery bursts are possible, though holding dry in eastern and northeastern areas until the late evening.
“A humid day to come tomorrow with the highest temperatures in the sunshine across the east and north of the country with colder temperatures under the cloud and rain in the west and southwest of the country. Fresh winds from the southeast are expected as well with gusty winds at times on southern and southeastern coastal fringes.
“Over the weekend there’ll be a good deal of dry weather about, though some outbreaks of showery rain will be present from time to time, perhaps thundery as it will be more humid through the weekend. Some sunny spells as well and where they occur it will be pleasantly warm. Further details closer to the time on where the best weather will be.”
Check out Met Eireann’s forecast for Dublin over the coming days:
Thursday 30th April
The day will stay mostly dry with a pleasant mix of cloud and sunny spells, though you’ll want to keep an eye on the sky later on. Cloud cover will increase in the evening, bringing a few developing showers. Temperatures will reach a comfortable 15°C to 17°C before dipping to between 8°C and 11°C overnight as the rain turns into patchy mist and fog.
Friday 1st May
Friday brings a bit of everything with a blend of cloud, sunshine, and heavy showers, potentially involving an isolated thunderstorm. It remains the warmest day of the outlook with highs reaching 14°C to 18°C. The night remains mostly cloudy with lingering showery outbreaks and lows of 7°C to 10°C.
Saturday 2nd May
A damp and cloudy morning features scattered outbreaks of rain and drizzle before some sunny spells fight through later in the day. However, heavy showers remain a risk, and it will feel noticeably cooler as temperatures peak between 11°C and 15°C in a northwest breeze.
Sunday 3rd May
Sunday offers a drier break from the rain, though a thick blanket of cloud will dominate the sky for most of the day. Those in the south will likely enjoy the best of the limited bright intervals. Temperatures remain on the lower side, reaching highs of 10°C to 14°C.
Monday 4th May
The Bank Holiday appears destined for a mostly cloudy aesthetic with occasional patches of light rain and drizzle. It will be a crisp day to wrap up the long weekend, with temperatures hovering between 10°C and 13°C in light westerly breezes.
