Driventic announces it will showcase its DIWA NXT automatic transmission and VEDS electric drive system at Lat.Bus 2026 exhibition in São Paulo, marking its first appearance in Brazil following its separation from Voith’s drivetrain division.
Driventic, headquartered in Heidenheim, Germany, is set to participate in Lat.Bus 2026, scheduled from 11 to 13 August at São Paulo Expo, where it will present its propulsion technologies for commercial vehicles, including buses, trucks and off-road applications.
The company will exhibit at stand Rua b-02, focusing on integrated driveline systems and digital services. Driventic’s customer base in Brazil includes manufacturers such as Mercedes-Benz, Volkswagen Trucks and Buses, and Volvo. The company operates across 26 sites in 18 countries and employs approximately 1,400 people, with a regional presence in Brazil, Colombia, Chile and Mexico.
VEDS electric driveline system technical specifications
Latin America now counts on more 10,000 electric buses in operation. Chile remains the region’s largest electric bus market outside China, with Santiago operating nearly 4,000 battry-electric buses. Santiago, São Paulo and Bogotá make up nearly 70% of the region’s e-bus fleet.
The VEDS electric drive system is designed for commercial vehicle applications, including buses and lorries, and supports both battery-electric and fuel-cell propulsion configurations. The system complies with functional safety standard ISO 26262 at ASIL C level and meets IP6K9K protection requirements.
According to the technical data provided, VEDS delivers up to 390 kW of power and up to 3,100 Nm of torque when equipped with the Heavy-Duty electric motor. The system is reported to achieve up to 20% lower energy consumption. It is engineered as a modular solution adaptable to multiple vehicle architectures and propulsion types.
DIWA NXT transmission features and efficiency parameters
The DIWA NXT automatic transmission represents the latest iteration of the DIWA platform and is designed for compatibility with diesel, CNG, HVO, B100 and hydrogen internal combustion engines.
The transmission incorporates a second overdrive gear, an independent retarder and an optional central recuperation unit (CRU) based on 48 V technology. This configuration enables braking energy recovery within a mild hybrid system.
Performance figures indicate up to 16% reduction in fuel consumption, up to 7% improvement in transmission efficiency and up to 9% increase in hybrid system efficiency. The system architecture allows independent optimization of the differential converter and retarder functions.
