I chose a Cane Corso to be my service prospect to feel safe. Being someone who suffers from mental illness, including but not limited to: BPD & CPTSD, having a Cane Corso as a service dog (in training) makes me feel at ease. Being that she is a Cane Corso, a guardian breed, she is naturally attentive & alert. These dogs were bred to hunt, guard, & protect. Many people see my service dog videos or meet Kora in person & think they want a dog just like her. Y’all have no idea the amount of socialization and training that has gone into this dog. Because of the consistent daily work that I put into her, she is an amazing service dog. However, she is still a dog. Kora knows the difference between when she is working & when she isn’t. That being said, obviously, there is no excuse for barking or showing any type of aggression towards people, animals, etc while she is working (she doesn’t even have a bark task). That is NOT an appropriate reaction for service dogs to have while on duty. But, (depending on the situation) her instincts tell her to guard her home/handler. This is why it is important to research the breed before you purchase. Kora is not a dog for the faint of heart & I never want to misrepresent this working breed. Kora has ZERO protection training. This is just a great example of genetics.
