As the Winter months are fast approaching and temperatures have dipped we start to realise the importance of heating our homes.
Having your Open Fire, Stove or Solid Fuel/Oil Cooker swept & cleaned is one of the key factors in achieving a more efficient heat in your home without doing anything else.
Mc Knight Chimney Sweep, owned by local woman Alyson McKnight, specialise in:
Domestic/Commercial Chimney Sweeping
Bird Nest Removal
Carbon Monoxide Alarm Installations
CCTV Chimney Inspections
Chimney Cowl Supplying & Fitting
As a Member of the Certified Sweeps Association, Alyson is Ireland’s only female professional Chimney Sweep to date. She runs this business alongside her Accountancy Practice, Commercial Herd of Milking Goats & Sheep Farm. As you can tell her life can be hectic at times, particularly at this time of year as it coincides with the Income Tax Deadline on 19th November.
At Mc Knight Chimney Sweep we use the latest Powerful Power Sweeping Technology ensuring your Flue is thoroughly cleaned, leaving it like new.
The business in its short three years has already built a strong client base across Donegal & Tyrone and growing steadily every week. We believe this is down to Alyson’s diligent work ensuring each home is left spotless. Alyson uses a powerful vacuum cleaner ensuring no soot particles escape in your home
Why should you have your chimney swept regularly?
Prevent chimney fires
The primary reason for regular sweeping is to remove flammable creosote and soot that build up on the chimney’s interior.
If this build up is left uncleaned, it can ignite and cause a Chimney fire that can easily spread to your home.
Reduce health risks
Fossil fuels produce carbon monoxide (CO), a colourless, odourless, and potentially fatal gas.
A clean, unobstructed chimney allows these gases to vent outside, protecting your home from the risk of CO poisoning.
Sweeping removes blockages, such as bird nests, that can cause smoke and CO to back up into your home.
Improve efficiency and longevity
A clean chimney allows for optimal airflow, which means your fire will burn hotter and more efficiently, providing better heat output for your home.
This reduces wasted fuel and can prolong the life of your chimney and stove.
The acidic nature of creosote can damage chimney liners over time, so regular cleaning protects the integrity of your flue.
How often should you sweep?
It is generally recommended to have your chimney swept at least once a year.
If you use your fireplace or stove frequently, you may need it cleaned more often.
We also find customers are now being ask by their house insurance provider for a Chimney Sweep Certificate showing their chimney has been cleaned once a year minimum. This request will become more frequent from insurance companies as chimney fires have increased drastically over the past few years.
We provide these Certificates on completion of sweeping your chimney.
I would like to thank my work Colleague Kathleen Love for her hard work & dedication throughout the year. It ALL would not be possible without you.
And also to my family who are often on the other end of the phone to lend a helping hand when needed.
As we are approaching Christmas I would like to take this opportunity to wish all my New & Existing Regular Clients a Happy Christmas & Prosperous New Year.
