The presenters of Loose Women celebrated some thrilling news about Christine Lampard, just moments after the programme’s ITV comeback.

The show made its return on Monday (April 27) after a hiatus of several weeks, following the broadcaster’s cutbacks the previous year.

Christine was accompanied by Coleen Nolan, Nadia Sawalha and Jane Moore as they geared up to examine the day’s most pressing topics. However, before delving into the major headlines, Coleen paused to acknowledge a significant achievement for her fellow panellist.

“Before we carry on with the show and all the topics, we have to say it was a big, big week this week, wasn’t it, for your husband,” Coleen remarked to Christine.

Over the weekend, the presenter joined her husband Frank in celebration after his football club, Coventry City, sealed their promotion back to the Premier League following a 25-year absence, reports the Express.

“From the football perspective, and anyone that’s obviously a football fan will get what the moment was at the weekend. Coventry were promoted to the Premier League, they’ve won their league – they’re top of their table. I think they were 17th when [Frank] took them on,” Christine explained.

“It was just the most special day yesterday. He’s got a brilliant coaching team around him. They’re all really good mates. The players are a bunch of lovely lads. All of their partners and wives, all the children were there yesterday. It was a really special moment.

“And all of the people who work behind the scenes that never really get mentioned. You don’t see them on the pitch, and they were all there just being part of this magical moment… It is a big achievement.”

The programme then showed footage of Frank paying tribute to Christine at the EFL Awards earlier this month. While collecting his Championship Manager of the Season award, Frank said: “I am fortunate enough at this point to have a life balance, which is important for us, where I can go home to my wife, who supports me and gives me everything I need. She’s my best friend. No, but she is, and it’s serious. I’m lucky. She has her own career and so I think she kind of gets it.”

Back in the ITV studio, Christine remarked: “He may have had a couple of beers, just putting it out there first, just to settle the nerves as he put it. Another huge accolade.”

She continued: “It was a lovely moment. And to be fair to him, he didn’t just wax lyrical randomly and invite me up on the stage. He was asked about what family life was like in terms of living in the football world. Obviously, it’s not just me. It’s all of the partners, everyone that’s at home. There’s no Christmases, there’s no weekends, no Bank Holidays… Anyone doing any shift work at home will get it.”

Coleen then quipped: “Can I just say, I know with you it makes you embarrassed and a bit squirmy when it’s done in public. But if I had been there, or if I had seen that on telly live, and he hadn’t of mentioned you, I don’t think I could be his friend after that.”

Jane wrapped up by saying: “It’s an acknowledgement of all of that commitment that he’s doing. The fact that he’s got a family, he wouldn’t be able to do that as well as he does without having back-up and support at home. So many people, I think, forget that.”

Loose Women airs weekdays on ITV1 and ITVX at 12.30pm
